DESCRIPTION

Channa masala is a simple indian masala gravy which can be served along with pulav, rice, chappathi, poori or naan

Yields: 3 Serving
 

INGREDIENTS

  • Dry Channa - 1 Cup
  • Oil - 2 Table spoon
  • Chopped Onion - 1
  • Chopped Tomato - 2
  • Ginger - 1 Inch
  • Garlic - 3 Pods
  • Turmeric - 1/8 Tea spoon
  • Kashmiri Chilli Powder - 1 Tea spoon
  • Garam Masala - 1 Tea spoon
  • Cumin Powder - 1 Tea spoon
  • Salt - As required
  • Bay Leaf - 1

INSTRUCTIONS

Pre work
  • Soak channa in water over night
  • Pressure cook the soaked channa for 5 whistles, drain and keep aside
  • Heat oil in a pan, add onions, ginger, garlic and saute until light brown
  • Add tomatoes and cook until the raw smell goes
  • Switch off the flame, cool the mixture & grind it to a paste
  • Heat a pan and add 1 tea spoon of oil, add one bay leaf
  • Add the ground mixture & spice powders, saute until raw smells goes. (will take 3-4 minutes)
  • Add cooked channa and 1/4 cup of water and cook for few more minutes
  • Switch off the flame & garnish with coriander leaves

NOTES

  • While cooking add/reduce water for desired consistency
  • This also can be served as snack with raw onion and grated carrots
