4 Minutes Methi Matar Malai (OPOS)

DESCRIPTION

Methi matar malai is a rich creamy indian dish made of green peas, fenugreek leaves and fresh cream. In a traditional way of cooking this dish it will take more than 20 minutes. This blog describes the quick and easy way of cooking methi matar malai cooking using One Pot One Shot (OPOS) technique. This kind of cooking also enhances the flavour and taste of the dish with minimal use of spice.

Yields: 2 - 3 Servings
 

INGREDIENTS

  • Butter - 1 Table spoon
  • Ginger garlic paste - 1 Tea spoon
  • Green chilli - 2 (Slit open)
  • Fresh green peas - 2 Cups
  • Dried fenugreek leaves (Kasoori methi) - 1/2 Cup
  • Salt - 1 Tea spoon
  • Garam masala - 1/4 Tea spoon
  • Fresh cream - 1/2 Cup
Pre work
  • Make sure your 2 litre cooker is standardizied. Click here for standardization technique

INSTRUCTIONS

  • Keep all ingredients ready
  • In a 2 litre cooker, layer the given ingredients as listed below
    • Layer 1 : 1 table spoon butter, 1 tea spoon ginger garlic paste, 2 green chillies (slit open)
    • Layer 2 : 2 cup fresh grean peas
    • Layer 3 : 1/2 cup dried fenugreek leaves (kasoori methi)
    • Layer 4 : 1 tea spoon salt, 1/4 tea spoon garam masala
  • Close the cooker lid and let it cook for 1 whistle for around 4 Minutes
  • Once cooked, swith off, release pressure with fork or knife by slightly lifting the cooker whistle (Do not remove the whistle completely/ Do not force open the cooker lid before releasing pressure)
  • After opening the lid, add 1/2 cup fresh cream & mix well

STEP BY STEP PREPARATION

Keep all ingredients ready

Layer the given ingredients in the 2 litre pressure cooker as shown below

Layer 1 : 1 table spoon butter, 1 tea spoon ginger garlic paste, 2 green chillies (slit open)

Layer 2 : 2 cup fresh grean peas

Layer 3 : 1/2 Cup dried fenugreek leaves (kasoori methi)

Layer 4 : 1 tea spoon salt, 1/4 tea spoon garam masala

Close the lid and cook on high heat for 1 whiste(This will take around 4 minutes)

Once cooked, swith off, release pressure with fork or knife by slightly lifting the cooker whistle (Do not remove the whistle completely/ Do not force open the cooker lid before releasing pressure)

After opening the lid, add 1/2 cup fresh cream & mix well

 

NOTES

  • 1 Cup fresh fenugreek leaves can be used instead of 1/2 Cup dried fenugreek leaves
  • Curd or sour cream can be used instead of fresh cream
